(Kuwait, 1958 – Barcelona, 2007) English artist and poet.Educated in Britain, trained as a doctor and studied philosophy in London. During the last period of his life he also lived and worked in Barcelona.
His art is in public and private collections in the UK, Spain, Germany, Hong Kong and USA.
Ghatta’s work is in part a response to Ludwick Wittgenstein and the extreme importance that he attached to the aesthetic dimension of life: how art can communicate and affect us in a way we cannot talk about and must pass over in silence.
Ghattas uses different media in his artistic expression, including oil, brush and Ink, prints, video or poetry.
Some examples of his work are the series ‘Images of God’ (Stockport 1999), a stunning metaphysical investigation through artistic expression.
The video “Islam. The call to Prayer” (MACBA 2006) is part of a tryptic exploring the essence of Islam, Christianity and Judaism.
